What's Behind Seven Percent Sports

At Seven Percent Sports, our story is rooted in a deep passion for the game, a commitment to family, and a desire to empower others to navigate the complex world of college football recruiting.

Our founder, Jeff, spent 25 years immersed in the world of college football, serving under the legendary Hall of Fame coach Bill Snyder. As a player, coach, and leader in roles ranging from football operations to team chaplaincy, Jeff’s life was profoundly shaped by Coach Snyder’s influence. He credits who he is today—both as a man and as a leader—to the principles and values instilled during his time with one of the sport’s greatest mentors.

Why Seven Percent Sports Exists

Jeff’s journey back to the gridiron began with a deeply personal experience: his son’s high school football recruiting journey. Despite Jeff’s extensive career in college football, he found himself feeling lost and overwhelmed by the recruiting process. If someone with decades of experience in the sport felt this way, he wondered, how must families with no background in the game feel?

This realization was a wake-up call. The recruiting process lacked clarity, advocacy, and accessible resources for families. Jeff saw an urgent need for a guiding light—one that could equip families with actionable insights, timely information, and unbiased support. And so, Seven Percent Sports was born.

Addressing a Changing Landscape

​College football recruiting has transformed into a new frontier. The advent of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness), revenue sharing and the transfer portal has brought unprecedented changes to the rules, structure, and strategy of the game. These shifts have created a “wild west” environment of sorts, where families often struggle to navigate the complexities of eligibility, competition, and recruitment.
 

Jeff recognized this gridiron-sized problem and assembled a best-in-class team of former football greats who share his passion for people. These individuals love the game, but they love serving families even more. Together, they are committed to the mission of being an ally for families, providing the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to make informed decisions during the recruiting journey.
